So here’s a problem we can’t figure out. Our bandit 600 is getting no oil on the left side of the valve train. Right side is fine. We’ve checked the galleries and lines with compressed air and nothing is blocked. We can’t figure out why this is going on. It’s a long shot but I couldn’t find anything on Google so I figured I’d ask the audience.

As I was writing this we found that the left side galleries do pass air, but are more restricted than the right. Posting this anyway in case that isn’t the problem.

Unfortunate cam lobe for your time.

EDIT whatever we did, when we put it back together the noise stopped.

poor cam.

sounds like something is in there that impedes the just more vicsous oil but not the air.

a rubber seal or something.

have you tried blowing air thought it BACKWARDS and see if nothing pops out thought the other side?

Yeah. The air flows fine but is definitely weaker on the left side. We gave it a shot of carb cleaner. Hopefully that breaks loose any gunk.

I’m going to have to go with a blocked oil galley as well. Since the opposite side gets plenty of oil then you know there is pressure and the system works. It shares the same oil pump so the only thing that it could be is a blocked/restricted oil passage. Do you know if the left side is getting NO oil, or just not ENOUGH oil?

How’s your oil pump/pressure? Could it be not sending enough and that side is towards the end of the line?

It was bone dry.

Both sides connect at the same point and have the same distance from the pump. Don't think it's pressure since oil shoots out of both lines just fine.

Ooh, could there be leakage in the galley somehow? Crack in the block dumping it into the crankcase? I wonder if there’s a way you can seal it and do a pressure test.

Whatever we did, when we put it back together it seemed to work
